Sports Performance Analysis
We offer sports-specific Biomechanical Performance Analysis to improve your golf swing, assess your running style, maintain your competitiveness and prepare for big sporting events.
Sport Specific Technique Analysis
A professional analysis can help you to improve your performance in any sport at any level of ability. It will also prevent long term injury and strain caused by improper movements during activity.
At PhysioMotion we are experts at understanding the biomechanics (body alignment) of movement required in sports and the analysis of these motions in relation to injury or performance. We are not sports coaches, but we are pros at identifying the specific issues within your body and how it relates to sporting performance.
At PhysioMotion, our Sport Specific Technique Analysis offers:
Technique analysis & your movement profile with running, tennis, swimming, golf, hockey, throwing sports, yoga, dance and fencing amongst others.
A detailed whole body assessment through movement to identify areas of inefficient movement, diagnose any injuries and relate that to your chosen sport
A sport specific analysis looking at your strength, control and any asymmetrical loading associated with compensatory movement strategies throughout your body
A personalised progressive treatment approach used will expedite recovery and return to sport by addressing the specific dysfunction in your body.
-
Early intervention is paramount to prevent any further injury and unwanted compensatory mechanisms in other regions of the body.
-
Treatment, including your exercise program, will be targeted at the cause of your issues and not necessarily the pain generator (where symptoms appear).
Other contributory factors will be discussed such as your exercise program, training regimes, sleep, general health and nutrition.
A detailed explanation of your specific issues will be given to support behavioural changes to optimise healing and recovery
Referral to other health professionals to achieve optimal health will also be considered.
-
Our highly trained clinical skills allow us to break down human motion into intervals so as to be able to ascertain which regions of your body are non-optimal and therefore, restricting performance. Often, this is what is causing your injuries ranging from joint pain, chronic overuse injuries to acute muscle strains.
-
Once your movement profile has been identified, we will use our unique Physiotherapy skills to address areas of stiffness, weakness and asymmetries to achieve a pain free athletic strategy that will aim to take your achievements to the next level. We welcome working closely with your sports coaches and personal trainers.
At PhysioMotion, we create the space for you to feel the difference when your body is pain free, moves well and performs optimally.
Running Assessments
At PhysioMotion, we believe that everyone would benefit from a running assessment. Here are the reasons why:
Identification of poor running techniques
Improved running performance
Injury prevention & treatment protocol
Objective measurements of muscular imbalances
An extensive core stability & fitness program
Common injuries caused by inefficient biomechanics and non-optimal movement strategies are:
Knee pain such as ‘runner’s knee’ or patello-femoral syndrome (mal-tracking of the knee cap) s
Hip discomfort or bursitis
Lower back / pelvic girdle dysfunction (sacroiliac joints & pubic symphysis pain)
Feet issues such plantar fasciitis, ingrown / loss of toe-nails, Moreton’s neuroma
Soft tissue injuries such as hamstring, groin and calf strains or chronic tension
Achilles tendonitis & heel pain
Stress fractures of the feet and lower limb
Optimal Running Technique & Biomechanics
Jogging is one of the most enjoyable and great ways to keep fit, but it is a repetitive sport that can place undue stress on joints from the feet to the spine particularly when running biomechanics are non-optimal. Up to 65% of joggers carry a running related injury that is often related to poor biomechanics. Whether you run recreationally or competitively, it is important that you are injury free.
Our running assessments analyse your running technique and identify specific inefficiencies that either cause injury or poor performance. We use a holistic approach looking at the entire musculoskeletal system, training program, footwear and nutrition.
All factors in all regions of the body causing inefficiency or injury with running are considered alongside the root causes of your issues. Such expert knowledge, analysis and targeted treatment will help runners achieve maximal performance outcomes - excellent running technique, faster times and injury prevention.
We use the most advanced and real time ultrasonography (RTUI) and more so, expertise in analysis to provide objective data on how your body moves. Our team then evaluates this information to identify any biomechanical problems and muscle imbalances.
Addressing your running issues will incorporate manual therapy, a review of your training regime and a personalized target specific strength and conditioning program to address your key problematic areas.
Our goal is to keep you running faster and longer at PhysioMotion.
Golf Swing Analysis – Optimum Performance & Injury Prevention
The most common injury related to golf is back pain, followed by elbow, shoulder, wrist, hand and knee problems. These issues can cause chronic overuse injuries that will negatively affect your performance and enjoyment of the sport.
Common causes of these issues are incorrect set up, the inability to weight transfer effectively, and insufficient rotational motion and control required for an optimal golf swing.
At PhysioMotion, our Golf Swing Analysis will evaluate:
Whole body assessment: Through movement to identify areas of inefficient biomechanics and relate that to your golf swing.
Set up position & posture: Identify whether your alignment is correct and your posture is primed for an optimal swing.
Ball set up: We will review placement that is suited for both the desired club and assess how this works with your swing.
Grip type & strength: Assess whether this is contributing to inaccurate ball trajectory & upper limb injuries.
Backswing: Analysis of the path of the backswing, tempo, the top of the backswing, club position and your body’s position to enable a powerful downswing.
Downswing & follow through: Assess how the downswing is initiated, the position of the club face at contact and any balance issues in your follow through.
Therapists at PhysioMotion understand the biomechanics of movement required in golf and the analysis of these motions in relation to your swing. We are not golf pros, but we are pros at identifying the specific issues with your musculoskeletal system and how it relates to your swing.
Our clinical skills allow us to break down human motion into intervals to ascertain which regions of your musculoskeletal system are non-optimal and therefore, restricting efficient movement. Once identified, we will use our unique Physiotherapy skills to address areas of stiffness, weakness and asymmetries to achieve a pain free consistent golf swing that will take your game to the next level. We welcome working closely with your golf pro.
Feel the difference when your body performs well and you can drive further, increase your accuracy and lower your handicap.
